Oh God, what does it mean that you are Lord? We humans are your creation and therefore belong to you and are under your authority. That means we are answerable to you and you alone. We are not the masters of our own lives, but belong to you.
Lord, as your creation, what is our responsibility? We are to submit ourselves to your lordship and do what you command and pleases you. Help us to understand fully what that means. We were not granted life to serve our own purposes but to serve you and bring you honor and glory.
God, since you are the Sovereign Lord that means that all things are under your control. You know the number of hairs on our heads, our comings and goings and all the days of our lives. Help us to understand our accountability to you. Help us to be aware each moment of every day of our thoughts and actions and whether or not they are pleasing to you.
May we worship you in your majesty. May we bow down and serve you in a way that honors you. May our hearts be steadfastly fixed on you and your goodness.
Thank you Lord that because you are sovereign and good we don’t have to fret or take things into our own hands. We can rest in you and leave the outcome to you. We may not understand what is happening in our lives and around us, but you do. May trusting you characterize our response to each situation we are in. May we serve you fully and rest in your sovereignty, care, and love.
