6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Prayer
Thank you Jesus that you are the way, the truth and the life, and that through you we can come into a right relationship with our Heavenly Father. Thank you that you love us with an everlasting love and only want what is best for us.
Please uncover the evil in our hearts that would cause us to reject you and go our own way. May our folly in following our own futile imaginations be made clear to us and may we see the surpassing greatness of you and your truth.
Thank you for showing us through your life how we are to love and treat others. Thank you for showing us through your word the truth that brings us life. May we see clearly that apart from you we have no good thing. May we humble ourselves before you and recognize our complete dependence upon you.
Break Down our Pride
Lord, please break down our arrogance that separates us from you and lift the blinders from our eyes so we can see what is real about ourselves and our waywardness. May we see that we aren’t as smart as we think we are and that submitting to you and your truth will bring a good result.
May we know that when we seek our own way we sow brokenness and strife rather than peace and harmony. Forgive us for our rebellion and stupidity and draw us back into a right relationship with you. Heal the discord and discontent in our lives as we humbly seek you and want what is good and right according to your truth.
Thank you that you desire to pour your blessing upon our land and look upon us with favor. May we recognize that will only occur when we humble ourselves before you, see you for who you are, express gratitude for all you have done for us, know your truth, and walk your way. We plead for you to do a good work in us Precious Savior.
Amen
