The Mountains

The Formation of Mountains

Bible Reading: Isaiah 54:9-10

“This is like the days of Noah to me:
as I swore that the waters of Noah
should no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,
    and will not rebuke you.
10 For the mountains may depart
    and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Reflection: Look up the formation of mountains in an encyclopedia or on the Internet and learn about how different types of mountains are formed.  Reflect on whether the formation of mountains is a gradual or catastrophic event and whether the conditions at the time of the flood could have led to the formation of mountains.

Journal Writing: What is an important truth from the reflection? Why do you need to know that truth?

Application Prayer: Write out a prayer for God’s insight and help into how you can apply the truth from the reflection.

Week’s Memory Verse:  Psalm 18:2

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
