Temptation

Vulnerability to Temptation

Bible Reading: James 4:7-10

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Reflection: Identify where you have desires that easily lead you to give into temptation.  Think about what God’s word has to say about each of these areas and how your thinking about them needs to change.  Pray that your desires would change so that you wouldn’t give into temptation.

Journal Writing: What is an important truth from the Bible reading? Why do you need to know that truth?

Application Prayer: Write out a prayer for God’s insight and help into how you can apply the truth from the reading.

Week’s Memory Verse:  James 1:14-15

Each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
