Remember What God Has Done

Through studying the Bible, we remember what God has done.

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 32:1-9

32 “Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak,
    and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
May my teaching drop as the rain,
    my speech distill as the dew,
like gentle rain upon the tender grass,
    and like showers upon the herb.
For I will proclaim the name of the Lord;
    ascribe greatness to our God!

“The Rock, his work is perfect,
    for all his ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
    just and upright is he.
They have dealt corruptly with him;
    they are no longer his children because they are blemished;
    they are a crooked and twisted generation.
Do you thus repay the Lord,
    you foolish and senseless people?
Is not he your father, who created you,
    who made you and established you?
Remember the days of old;
    consider the years of many generations;
ask your father, and he will show you,
    your elders, and they will tell you.
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance,
    when he divided mankind,
he fixed the borders of the peoples
    according to the number of the sons of God.
But the Lord’s portion is his people,
    Jacob his allotted heritage.

Reading Questions: What is God like? Why were the people foolish and unwise? What had God done for his people?

Journal Writing: What is an important truth from the Bible reading? Why do you need to know that truth?

Application Prayer: Write out a prayer for God’s insight and help into how you can apply the truth from the reading.

Week’s Memory Verse: Mark 12:29-31

Through God’s Word, we learn how to love God with our entire being.

29“The most important commandment,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

  1. Moses wanted all of creation to know this song because it is the way we often are. We call on God in times of great need and He comes, and by His provision, we find peace and satisfaction. As time goes by, however, we get comfortable as this verse talks about and we end up taking credit for his provision or forgetting where it came from. This verse reminds us we should shout out the name of God in every part of our lives and in any circumstance.  God is a good father and gives us what we need. His time and plan differ totally from ours. Love God through all times.
