God, how grateful we are to be able to call you Lord. How good it is to recognize that you are our creator, redeemer, and loving heavenly Father. How good it is to know that you watch over and care about your creation.
Lord, may we recognize that you have given us life to know you and bring you honor and glory. May we see that life isn’t about us, but about you. May we understand that in doing what pleases you, life will go well for us, have meaning, and we will be a blessing to other people.
Thank you that your word teaches us the way we are to live and relate to you and others. Thank you that your word enlightens our minds and illumines your path. Please open our minds to understand and our eyes to see. Lord, may we live in such a way that others see your goodness. May our lives truly be a reflection of you.
Show us, Lord, when we stray from your path and put our trust in ourselves instead of you. Cause us to see in ourselves anything that is not of you and separates us from your goodness. Lord we know that when we are separated from you we sow bad seeds instead of good. It is only through maintaining a connection to you that we can produce what is good and right in our lives.
May the pursuit of you consume us. May we want you above all else. May we keep our eyes on you and what pleases you. May we die to self and truly find ourselves alive in you. Lord, we thank you that when we lose our life for your sake, we truly gain life in you.
