Psalm 36:5-9
5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
Prayer
Lord, thank you that your word is true and good and gives light to our eyes. We pray that we as a people would look to you for clarity and understanding and recognize our need to be led by you and your truth.
May we humble ourselves and recognize our complete dependence on you and your provision. May we see that you have all power and understanding while ours is limited. Open our eyes so we can see more of your greatness and glory and see ourselves as who we are in comparison to you.
Lord, we know that our days are numbered by you. During this time of confusion and isolation, please be with those who are sick and dying. May your presence bring them comfort and peace. Work in their hearts so they are prepared to meet you. Thank you that when we know you death is not an end but a wonderful door into your everlasting kingdom.
May those who are suffering great financial loss look to you. You promise in your word that as we seek you first you will provide for us what we need for life. May people recognize that apart from you, there is no good thing and may they trust you to bring them through the suffering and loss to a better place on the other side.
Thank you that you use the circumstances in our lives to make us into better people. May we as a nation look to you for restoration and healing. May we not try to work things out on our own apart from you. May we humbly submit to and rely upon you.
Lord, we acknowledge that you are God and we are merely humans. May we not lean on our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge and trust you. Please lead us along your path and through this make us better people who are more submitted to you.
