Marriage

A Marriage Story

Bible Reading: Proverbs 5:18-23

Let your fountain be blessed,
and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
19     a lovely deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight;
be intoxicated always in her love.
20 Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman
and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?
21 For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord,
and he ponders all his paths.
22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him,
and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.
23 He dies for lack of discipline,
and because of his great folly he is led astray.

Reading Questions: Think about how you and your spouse met and became a couple or your parents if you are not married.  Reflect on what God has done in the marriage and the value of the one-flesh relationship. If you are divorced, think about the problems that you have encountered as a result and why it falls short of what God desires. Reflect on God’s forgiveness and faithfulness to us as his people even when we fall short.

Journal Writing: What is an important truth from the reflection? Why do you need to know that truth?

Application Prayer: Write out a prayer for God’s insight and help into how you can apply the truth from the reflection.

Week’s Memory Verse:  Mark 10:6-8

6″But at the beginning of creation God `made them male and female.’ 7`For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8and the two will become one flesh. ‘So they are no longer two, but one.
