“Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.””
Lord,
Teach me to be like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego whose trust in you was completely steadfast. As they stood before the king of their age, they refused to cave into the pressure and instead acknowledged your sovereignty and power, even though it would most likely cost them their lives. Even though it was most certainly going to cost them everything they had, they did not forsake you in order to give into mentality of the mob. Although they knew you had the power to save them, they trusted your judgement whether you were going to or not.
Help me to be okay with the uncertainty. I want to be able to truly say my God has the power to save me but even if he doesn’t I will not bow down to the spirit of this age. Help me to stand firm in the midst of everything and leave the outcome in your hands.
