Bible Reading: John 4:21-24
21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Reflection: Picturing the spiritual world
Before the creation of physical matter only the spiritual world existed. Close your eyes and think about what that would have been like. Reflect on the following questions: What isn’t physical about us? Even though there is nothing physical in the spiritual world is it empty? Why not? What is God’s spiritual presence like? What enables us to experience God’s presence? Why does closing our eyes help us to think about God?
Journal Writing: What is an important truth from the reflection? Why do you need to know that truth?
Application Prayer: Write out a prayer for God’s insight and help into how you can apply the truth from the reflection.
Week’s Memory Verse: Colossians 1:16-17
16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
