Lord, thank you for giving us life. Thank you that every breath is a gift from you. Thank you for all that you have given us in this amazing world you created.
Lord, may our hearts be filled with gratitude for who you are and the love you have for us. May we view all things as a gift and hold to a right view of life. May we recognize that nothing is deserved, as we are naturally rebellious and disinclined to acknowledge and honor you. Because you are good, however, you still act in kindness towards us.
Thank you for giving us your word to show us the way we are to live. Thank you that when we humble ourselves before you, you look on us with favor. Thank you that when our desire is to follow and obey you, you turn your face toward us and bless us.
May we also recognize that when we turn our backs on you, you turn away from us and allow us to suffer the consequences of our choices. During this dark time may we understand that it is our rejection of you that causes our discontent. It is our own sin that is our biggest problem, not the sins of others.
Lord, may we as a people want to be made right by you. May we stop blaming others for our problems and look at ourselves and what we are doing wrong. May we see how much you have forgiven us and be forgiving towards others.
Purify us we pray. Show us what we need to see about ourselves. Bring us humbly to our knees before you, understanding that above all else we need you. Thank you that because of the gift of your Son we can be made right for all eternity and can experience abundant life with you. Truly, you are good to us. May we share your goodness with others.
Amen
