Lord, there is an emptiness in our soul that can only be filled through a relationship with you. There is a longing for more, which causes us to pursue all kinds of things in the world that can never satisfy. Thank you Lord that you designed us to live rightly with you and that apart from knowing you we will be left empty and hungry.
Help us Lord to see the futile things we pursue apart from you. Help us to see that worldly acclaim, money, sex, jobs, drugs, alcohol, etc. will never fill the hole that can only be filled by you. Thank you Lord that you will not allow us to be content apart from submitting to and loving you.
Lord, help us to understand our design and that there is no fulfillment in life apart from you. Lord, in recognizing that our purpose is to reflect your image and bring honor and glory to you, we find true meaning in life. Lord, help us to see that focusing on ourselves and what we want won’t bring any kind of lasting contentment.
Lord, open our eyes to see your majesty and beauty. Open our eyes to see all that you want to pour into us as we acknowledge who you are and how much we need you. May we see that the pursuit of you is our calling and what leads to a full and satisfying life.
Lord, when we feel empty and dissatisfied open our eyes to see what we are pursuing other than you. Cause us to feel the full weight of our separation from you when we are on a destructive, self-focused path. Thank you that you don’t abandon us when we abandon you, but are continually calling us back to yourself. Open our eyes to see that everything we need can be found in you.
