Christmas Bells

Bells originated in Asia and have been used all over the world to signal important events. For over 500 years, bells have been used to call Christians to worship. At Christmas, ringing bells are a reminder of the importance of Christ coming to earth. They bring a message of God’s love and care for all mankind.

Bells throughout the ages
for many things have rung,
Sounding very loudly
when back and forth they’re swung.
Bells sometimes warn of danger,
the coming of a foe,
And sometimes they are rung
a vic-tor-y to show.

In many churches there are bells
in a steeple tower,
Calling people to the church
or ringing out the hour.
At Christmas it’s the custom,
tower bells to ring,
Inviting everyone to come
and worship Christ the king.

Bells ring out the good news,
God sent his Son to earth,
Reminding us on Christmas Day
to celebrate his birth.
The good news is the gospel
that Jesus died for sin,
Opening up the door to life,
so we can enter in.

And also be reminded,
as bells ring in a tower,
That Jesus will return one day
in great might and power.
We are to be ready
for that great and glorious day,
And to speed its coming
Jesus told us we should pray.

The first time Jesus came to earth
was as a little child.
He lay there in a manger,
a baby meek and mild.
When he comes to earth again,
he’ll becoming in a cloud.
Angels will accompany him
with trumpets blasting loud.

Every eye will see him
and look upon his face,
And those who have rejected him
will be humbled in disgrace.
To be ready for Christ’s coming
we must focus on what’s right.
We encourage one another
to walk in Jesus’ light.

We pray for one another
so in Jesus we’ll stay strong.
We also warn each other
to stay away from wrong.
As we encourage other people.
our faith in Christ will grow.
And that Jesus’ love flows through us,
to others we will show.
