Mercy is a gift to be thankful for. Lord, you know our lives better than we do. You know the selfishness and the selflessness in our lives, the evil and the good. We pray today a prayer of thankfulness for your loving mercy that covers over all the evils in the world. Forgive us for our self-centeredness that turns us from you.
You’ve covered us with the blood of the lamb and showed us what true mercy is. Every act of forgiveness and mercy is a win against evil. May we not go another day withholding mercy to someone who has hurt us. Your death on the cross was the ultimate mercy. May our lives be a reflection of our unmerited reconciliation with you.
You have shown us the purest of mercies. I pray as we approach Thanksgiving and as families come together that we wouldn’t leave anyone left out due to unresolved conflict or wrongdoing. Christ forgave all, even those who placed him on the cross. He sent his disciples to spread His mercy. Showing us that mercy conquers evil.
Help us wage a battle this holiday season against evil and let us free our hearts through forgiveness and mercy. Opening us up to the freedoms of reconciliation and love. Being agents of the One who gives us true life and Joy. Christ’s mercy, a gift to be thankful for.
